ENVISION MOUNT VERNON
Phase 1
In 2022, the City of Mount Vernon commissioned the Mount Vernon Comprehensive Plan, branded as "Envision Mount Vernon." The Comprehensive Plan is to be completed in two phases. Phase 1, completed between Fall 2022 and Winter 2023, focused on the downtown section of the city.
As a result of a year of community outreach comprised of surveys, participatory mapping activities, Advisory Committee sessions, Community Conversations, and public workshops, the City of Mount Vernon is proud to present the Downtown Vision Report. This Downtown Vision Report was formally adopted by the City Council on January 24, 2024.
The Vision Report was developed with extensive input from Mount Vernon’s communities over a year-long planning process. The report reflects guiding principles for consideration in the preparation and adoption of the final Comprehensive Plan. It examines existing trends and opportunities within Downtown, and provides a list of recommendations intended to guide future development.
